Ready & Organized On The Go {And Looking Like It}

I love fielding readers questions but until today, have never posted them. How selfish! So here was a great question from Wendy that is a biggie for me & my 4 kids... getting out the door.

My kids have lots of different activities like soccer and dance. I am always rushing, scattered and unfortunately, this gets reflected with the kids showing up late, disheveled and usually missing something. Any tips?

Newborn - 6T closet dividers. Free Printable! Downloadable

I love having things labeled. Organized, divided and labeled. Not only are things easier to find, for me and the kids, they are also easier to put away. Back in October, I did a roundup of a handful of baby/kid closet dividers. At the time I was organizing my nursery closets so was searching online but ever since have had creating my own set of hanger dividers (and something that could double as labels for their boxed clothes) on my to-do list .

This idea is perfect for baby closets where you have a myriad of sizes and not always a myriad of space. They outgrow their clothes so fast, if you lose an outfit for even a few weeks, they may never wear it at all! Dividers are also great for growing kids that are in between sizes or siblings that have to share a closet. With 4 kids, all of these reasons apply for us.

Clothing Dividers: Pictured Potato Patch Woodland Forest Friends

A few years back I tackled organizing my daughters closet by mimicking what works... clothing racks at the store. You know how they have those clothing dividers that separate newborn clothes from 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-12 months and so on? I found some, organized a whole years worth of close all ready for my daughter to grow into in her closet and of course blogged about it.

Back then, I could only find one brand of what I would call cute. It was hard to find but I was on a mission. It's my thing and the vision behind my blog. Take an everyday baby necessity and find a hipper version. There is always a cooler one out there. You just have to dig.

When The Label Maker Doesn't Cut It

I am a labeler. It drives my husband nuts but since I like to use my own containers for things, it's nice to know which one is whole wheat flour, the rye, etc. Same goes for the kids things. Especially if it's something they need to be responsible with or are taking outside of the house. If it says Alex, then Alex takes much better care of it and is less likely to lose it. It's a simple trick that I love.

Awesomely Organized: 15 Trendy To Do Lists

Free To Do List Download - Free Chore Chart Download

I've never been a To Do List person. I would tackle things here and there as I remembered them (which was usually at the last minute or too late). But now as a dutiful housewife and mother of 6 *4 kids plus 2 dogs* the only way to get anyone where they are supposed to be or anything finished is to write it down.

One of the biggest perks of creating to-do lists, outside of getting organized and getting things done, is that it gets all of those To-Do's out of your head! Instead of having a myriad of tasks floating around in your brain through out the day, you have one thing to remember and that is the list. You can worry about the details when you check your list.

Win This! Original CLIPPIEHOLDER - Desktop - Natural

With 3 girls, I've always thought you can never have to many hair clippies. Well it turns out, if you don't have a good place to store them, you can. I find myself spending anywhere from $1 to $16 dollars for hair clips and so I go bananas when I find them littering the floors.

So I big time heart creations like ClippieHolders from Everyday Clippies. Made from CARB certified wood harvested from sustainable forests, these beautifully crafted hair clip holders (table top or hanging version) are a fantastic solution to display all you child's hair clips and keep them organized. Either version can be easily positioned to keep them in our out of reach of the kids.

IKEA PS FÅNGST Hanging storage - 6 compartments

To continue our quest to organize the stuffed animals we're taking a little trip to my happy place, IKEA! Now if you're not familiar with Ikea, then make sure you check out the Ikea parody video at the end of this post or plan a visit if there's one in your area. Before Ikea *finally* opened up in Portland, I drove the 3 1/2 hours to the Seattle Ikea with out thinking twice. The huge warehouse of food, furnishings and fixtures offers modern Swedish designs at amazingly affordable prices.

Here we are looking at the (say this out loud with me, folks) PS FÅNGST. These are a 6 compartment mesh storage bags that can hang in your closet or be jimmied up anywhere in the room if you're creative. Available in 3 colors and for under $5 each!

Boon Trio Animal Bag

My husband and I have always been afraid of stuffed animals. Mostly because they seem to multiply like tribbles *sneak in a Star Trek reference into a blog post, check* and outside of the bed, never really seem to have a home.

So, we are going to dedicate a few days to getting the endless supply of stuffed toys... organized and stuffed! Today, it's the Trio Animal Baby by Boon. Boon is a fantastic brand to turn to when you are looking for kids toys or gear that have a modern edge to them.
