It's Rad! Pink Blooming Bath

I am obsessed with this baby bath. It's not a tub but makes bathing infants in the sink cozy and so easy. How do I describe this? It's like putting a pillow in the sink! It's very worthy of the Posh Little It's Rad Award.

I'm on baby #4 now so bath time is not what it used to be. It's rarely part of our bedtime routine and generally just something that happens after I finish filling the dishwasher and happen to have an empty sink.

Oh No It Didn't: Oh Yeah, This Bottle Warms Itself

Oh No It Didn''t: oh, yeah. this bottle warms itself

I've never had a bottle warmer or any sort of on-the-go system to warm up bottles. Since I have mainly nursed, I've made due with out one. A cool nursing cover was all I needed!

My latest baby, however, has made things a little harder since she refuses to breastfeed if there's anything going on around her. She fights her way out from under the nursing cover and cries reminding me that no one puts baby under the nursing cover. Nursing isn't usually an option in public unless I leave the room or go sit in the car.

Does Your Baby Lick The Handles Of Shopping Cart & High Chairs?

Infantino Cloud Cover Numbers - Shopping Cart Cover/ High Chair Cover

Mine does. It's very peculiar behavior but I guess it's something that baby's do. Licking handles. It's so odd. Funny thing is... I didn't have a problem with my first three kids gnawing on shopping carts. Maybe I carried or wore them more when I went shopping because it wasn't until recently, with baby #4, that I needed a shopping cart cover. Of course, it had to be modern, hip and not something that Grandma knitted or whipped up with leftover fabric scraps (she likes to do that).

I picked up, for a steal, the Numbers Cloud Cover (top photo above) by Infantino on Zulily a while back ($29.98 @ Amazon) and it's been great. It's puffy, cozy and covers everywhere Hadley could reach. Doubling as a high chair cover is also very cool. Yes my baby licks high chairs too. Good golly, doesn't she watch the news and reports on high chair germs? Yuck.

Tinylove Gymini® Move & Play

Ah, floor time! Not only is it Uber important for baby's development, it gives mommy's arms a nice break. While my on-the-verge-of-walking 9 month old is now too mobile for our Tinylove Gymini® Move & Play, I will always remember our good times {insert bittersweet wave goodbye here} fondly. I had a hard time getting her out of my tired arms for tummy time when she was really little so this super playful mat was a godsend and grabbed her attention fast.

FunBites: Toddler & Kid Finger Food Fun

I feel like Cher. No, not turning back time in front of the Navy Cher. The Cher from the movie Mermaids where the only thing she makes is finger food and everything's been cut into bite size pieces.

We've been playing with FunBites and now, when ever I offer the family food, every item starts with the word bite sized. I've created little hors d'oeurve monsters but it's fun (see us in action) and I've been able to get them to try some new things. The kids usually take me up on my FunBites offer. My husband, not so much.

My walls are covered in canvas art and I love canvas because: A) I found it's a great way to add large amounts of color or pizzazz to a white wall {when your landlord or hubby won't let you paint}; B) canvas always seems easier to hang than frames; C) canvas art just looks sooo good! I love canvas in the kids rooms, playroom and nursery especially. It's a fantastic alternative to framed art or pictures and you can do so much with them.

It's A Giveaway! Wine A Baby Signs Complete Starter Kit

Update! Hadley is just about to turn one and she is a little signing machine. She rarely has tantrums or crying fits because we know what she wants. Bed time, hungry, bottle.... there's a sign for that!

When my first baby was about 6 months old I took a baby sign language class. I had no clue what it was about but I would of done anything to get out of the house to hang out with other mommies. It was similar to other mommy classes: a bunch of tired but eager moms sitting in a circle with baby in their laps and an instructor flashing a series of gestures similar to reciting Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Our Halloween Apps & Adventures

The Berenstain Bears Go on a Ghost Walk App

Getting ready for Halloween is a big deal at our house. Since my hubby likes to start decorating a month early, he had to carve a second round of our 6+ front porch pumpkins. Round 1 met with a moldy death a week before Halloween. A lot of work but also a lot of yummy pumpkin seeds. We have also been very busy boo'ing our neighbors and making several trips to the pumpkin patch for birthday parties and school field trips.

My favorite Halloween event so far was that we FINALLY went on the Beyond Bizarre Portland Walking Tour. I have been dying to go on this for years. It's a grownup ghost walk where we strolled around downtown Portland and our guide Donna (part tour guide, part stand up comic) told us stories about the buildings and Portland's haunted history.

Do You Know That Bees & Dogs Can Smell Fear?

Do you know how to stay safe in a storm? How baseball bats are made? Or that the largest diamond in the galaxy is 2,500 miles across? My son Alex does and he is happy to share his secret. It's not Google! You can find these and hundreds of other fun facts compiled into two super handy and entertaining Time Life Books called That's Incredible and Big Book Of How.

If you have elementary school aged kids, your kids will love these books. Kind of like encyclopedias...  but cool and fascinating (even for mom)! They're very engaging and have come in really handy for school reports and science projects for my 3rd grader. He's become quite the know-it-all and I've had to confiscate these books a few times to get him to go to bed or eat dinner.
